Sometimes sex with a stranger can represent sex without responsibility. Though it's a relatively popular fantasy, in many cases women imagine faceless people: they're there to fulfill certain sex acts rather than act as a more fully fleshed out fantasy figure (who says women don't objectify their lovers?) Sometimes this may be because a woman genuinely wants to have sex with a particular person but can't because, for example, they are in a monogamous relationship. For example, fantasising about a dominant stranger may suggest you're fed up of taking charge in the bedroom; fantasising about a handsome doctor may suggest you want more looking after; and both allow scope for all manner of kinky games.

Another exhibitionist fantasy, a fair few women fantasise about stripping for a lover - and many had a far larger audience in mind. Again, imagining people cheering you on as you strip can be a self esteem booster. Some women also enjoyed the feeling of sexual liberation: being as sexual and 'dirty' as they want with no fear of judgement - other than in the form of cheering and desire.
Sex in a public place
Exhibitionism is a popular theme, with many women fantasising about having sex in public - and even more fantasising about sex in front of an audience. Psychologists have linked exhibitionist fantasies to feelings of insecurity: a woman who doesn't feel attractive can feel ultimately desirable through exhibitionist fantasies in which everyone wants her.
Bedding your boss
Authority figures are a popular theme in female fantasies, and tend to show up mostly in female submissive fantasies. Many of the women who fantasised about their boss admitted they wouldn't be interested at all in real life. However, submitting to authority in fantasy can help some women relieve guilt they may have about particular sex acts - they're not being 'bad' if they're being 'forced' to do what they're told by their boss.
For some women, particularly those with stressful lives, submissive fantasies offer an opportunity to let go of control and let someone else take charge. Though some women may genuinely fancy their boss, this fantasy is just as likely - if not more - to be about power: and in all the fantasies submitted, the woman was on the receiving end of a lot of pleasure, showing who's really the boss in this kind of fantasy.
