BLOODY....BUS CRASH IN LONDON!

ACCIDENT At least 20 passengers injured after the Number 59 bus hit a tree

Scotland Yard said 23 peope are described as "walking wounded", while seven others are still being assessed where the bus crashed in Kennington Road, south London.

Two uniformed police officers were on board when the crash happened and both were injured.

Two passengers remained trapped on the bus, the Met Police said.
"At this stage, there has been no fatality," a spokesman added.
Although eyewitness reports suggested the number 59 bus swerved to avoid an emergency vehicle, the police said that was not the case.

No other emergency vehicle was involved, an officer said.

A man with a bloodied head was seen being put on to an ambulance and emergency crews were using a cherry picker to gain access to the back of the bus.
When asked how many people had been hurt, a police sergeant said "a lot".
The front of the bus, a number 59 heading to King's Cross, was crumpled against a tree near the Ship pub on Kennington Road.
Fire crews used ladders to remove people and seats from the top of the back of the bus. One onlooker said the driver was trapped inside.
The tree was embedded in the front of the bus and emergency crews were using cutting equipment to gain access to one side of the vehicle.
The London Fire Brigade said:"Firefighters are attending a double decker bus that's crashed into a tree on Kennington Road, Kennington.

"Around a dozen people are believed to have been injured and firefighters are working to release two people who are believed to be trapped.
"Four fire engines are on the scene from Soho, Westminster, and Lambeth fire stations. London Ambulance Service, the air ambulance, and the Metropolitan police are also at the scene."
Firefighters were called out at 10.52am and four engines were rushed to the scene.

Transport for London's director for buses, Mike Weston, said: "The incident took place on Kennington Road near the Imperial War Museum SE1.

"Our first concern is, of course, for the driver, passengers and others involved in this incident and we can confirm the emergency services are in attendance.
"There will be a thorough investigation into this incident as a matter of urgency."
