EFCC Arrests Diezani’s Cousin, Recovers Implicating Documents!

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Thursday last week, arrested Mr. Donald Chidi Amamgbo, a cousin of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Amamgbo, who was allegedly involved in questionable oil lifting during the last government, was arrested in Lagos at about 4.20p.m.

Vanguard reports that Amamgbo is chief executive of Mezcor Oil and Gas limited, Tridax Oil and Gas Limited, Lynear Energy Limited and Bulk Strategic Reserves Limited.

The operatives also searched his Abuja office and premises at 5, Sannar Street, Wuse 2, where documents, showing how the firm bought choice property were retrieved.

Amamgbo allegedly got approval to lift Nigerian crude oil worth billions of dollars for over four years without any requisite experience.
The arrest of Amamgbo came one week after the EFCC quizzed Diezani’s husband, Admiral Alison Madueke (rtd), over $600,000 found his accounts.

WOMEN ONLY!..Your Uterus: There's an App for That..

This is a nice surprise. After years of clunky devices and old-school techniques, we’re finally seeing some innovation in one of the most stagnant sub-components of healthcare: reproductive health technology. Now, whether it comes to planning or preventing pregnancy, there really might just be an app for that. Or a few of them.
All together, this information can help women map everything from pre-menstrual stressors to peak fertility.
On the horizon are a number of deceptively simple apps that can track a woman’s entire menstrual cycle through a combination of self-reported data and some hardware innovations, drawing on standard ovulation testing tech, not unlike taking a pregnancy test. All together, this information can help women map everything from pre-menstrual stressors to peak fertility.
They’ve got some serious design flair, too. Hold the pink, the furry, the flowers. This is a style that treats the issue seriously, and as a medical issue that isn’t restricted to just women.

Clue is an app from a German startup that was released in July. It’s a sleek, free app interface for iPhones (Android coming soon). Women can self-report their own menstrual data, for instance, noting some light spotting or painful cramps. Clue crunches the data to predict individual women’s cycles, from PMS to ovulation, and shows it in a pretty circular layout or on a calendar. Though there’s a disclaimer on the site now that women shouldn’t be using Clue for contraception, co-founder Ida Tin, imagines a future where women can go pill-free in favor of the app.

For now, Clue trades in the data game, promising women a chance to self-educate and know more about their own cycle, which, they remind us, is “not a clock.”

Then there’s Glow, the latest from PayPal’s Max Levchin. Glow came out in August on the same day it announced $6 million in funding, led by Silicon Valley powerhouse Andreesen Horowitz. Also a free iPhone app, Glow takes self-reported data and pings couples with daily reminders like, “Woohoo! You’re ovulating,” or “Don’t forget to take your temperature this morning.”
What’s new is the idea that information about the totality of a woman’s cycle can and should be used for something beyond just planning pregnancy.
It takes a wide-angled approach to reproductive health, reminding women to stay active and pointing out their most fertile windows. Clearly, Levchin and Co. aren’t satisfied with just gathering small data. They’ve also created Glow First, a non-profit that lets couples facing infertility pool their money (at $50/month for up to 10 months) to save on treatment options – in exchange for couples remaining active on a treatment log. Call it a better way to recruit for medical studies than ads on the sides of bus stations.

Ovulation-aware technology is old news for women who are trying to conceive, but what’s new is the idea that information about the totality of a woman’s cycle can and should be used for something beyond just planning pregnancy. That information, in the hands of women without access to stable birth control, might mean the difference between an unplanned family and a career.

Clue also allows women to self-gather data on mood and other health factors usually considered secondary in a conversation about periods. When apps like these meet their behavioral health cousins (like Ginger.io), a brand new research door swings wide open, bringing together different kinds of health data in new combinations – and that’s something important to watch for.

When apps like these meet their behavioral health cousins, a brand new research door swings wide open.
One crucial question haunting all this medical innovation is how to get it to scale beyond iPhone users, a relatively privileged group. After all, American birth control woes pale in comparison to access in Latin America, much of Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Health tech is in the middle of a transition, from mere tracking and recording to interventions.
But the biggest barrier in health tech, argues a McKinsey report on the subject, has been managing patient privacy concerns. While the industry plays catch-up in the data game, opt-in technologies like apps can push things ahead.

Meaning that one day soon, the information we’ve taken from women with iPhones can build into research that makes a global reproductive rights revolution – one that doesn’t depend on expensive drugs – imaginable.

Now that’s something to glow about.

I won’t pay N5,000 to those who don’t work – Buhari!

buhari naija prisido

President Muhammadu Buhari has ruled out the possibility of his government paying N5,000 monthly allowance to unemployed youths in the country as promised by his party, the All Progressives Congress, ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

Buhari’s new position is contrary to the stand of many of his officials who have at different times claimed that the fund to implement the promise had already been provided for in the 2016 Budget currently before the National Assembly.

The President who is currently on a one-week official visit to Saudi Arabia and Qatar however made it clear in Saudi Arabia during an interactive session that he could not be paying those who do not work.

He said he has a “slightly different priority” from the position of his party on the payment of the unemployed which he described as a “largesse.”

The President said rather than paying the unemployed, his administration would build infrastructure and empower able-bodied men to work.

“This largesse: N5,000 for the unemployed, I have got a slightly different priority.
“I would rather do the infrastructure, the school and correct them and empower agriculture, mining so that every able-bodied person can go and get work instead of giving N5,000 to those who don’t work,” Buhari declared.

The APC, which defeated the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the March 28 presidential election, had promised during its campaign that if elected to the central government, it would pay N5,000 monthly to 25 million jobless youths as well as introduce a free school feeding programme.

Buhari’s Trip Pays Off As Qatari Businessmen Ready For Investments In Nigeria
Signs that President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Qatar may started yielding positivity result manifested yesterday as Qatari businessmen have indicated interest to invest in financial, oil and gas and telecommunication sectors in Nigeria’s economy.

Other areas the business community showed concerned were telecommunications, tourism, agriculture, food processing sectors, among others. This came as president Buhari has assured them of security and protection, adding that all visa impediment, multiple taxation would be removed.

Speaking on behalf of the Qatari senior executive of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and some private businessmen at a meeting with president Buhari in Doha on Sunday, Muhammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Al Kuwari, Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry said Africa was a new destination for the next decade.

“All eyes are on Africa in the next decade. Africa is the next place for growth, the rest of the world is looking towards the continent, and Nigeria is an important part of that continent,” he said. President Buhari had assured the people of adequate security in Nigeria.

He said “Nobody invests without first knowing how secure a country is. That is why we have placed high premium on securing the country, because you cannot effectively manage a country you have not secured.

“My party campaigned on three main planks: security, employment generation and anti-corruption. “We campaigned on zero corruption, promising that we would run an accountable government and we are keeping our promises.”

A statement by Mr. Femi Adesina, the presidential media aide stated that president Buhari while speaking on the crash crude oil prices in the international market and its effect on the Nigerian economy, informed his hosts that Nigeria was blessed with vast arable land for agriculture, and rich deposit of solid minerals, which the businessmen can invest in, and reap rich returns in a short while.

“Agriculture and solid minerals will mobilize youths for gainful employment. We have the capacity not to need to import food at all. “But we need to also tackle infrastructure deficit in power, transportation, rail, road, and in other areas. We will put together an articulated plan, which would be discussed with you shortly, so that you can make investment decisions.

“All impediments like delayed processing of permits, multiple taxation, and corrupt practices, would be removed,’’ the President said.

NEWISSUES, Abuja
PRESS RELEASE
#FreeEseOruruNow #EseIsNotAisha
Esther Ruru
1. On 12 August, 2015, 13 years old Ms Ese Rita Oruru did not return home
2. Efforts made by the parents to locate Ese led to one Mohammed (aka Daidi) who informed the mother that one Mr. Yinusa (alias Yellow) had taken the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru to Kano with an intention to convert her into Islam, recruit her into an Islamic fanatical Group and mar
ry her.
3. Acting on the above information, Mrs. Rose Oruru approached one Dan Kano, who not only confirmed the story but also promised to take her to Kano to recover her daughter.

5. On the 14th of August, 2015 the journey to Kano was embarked on, arriving after midnight. The said Rabiu took Mrs. Rose Oruru to the chief of a village called Tufa in Kura Local Government Area of Kano State on the 15th of August, 2015.
6. After relaying the purpose of their visit, the said chief was furious with Rabiu for bringing Mrs. Rose Oruru to Kano and told them that the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru has been converted to Islam and renamed “Aisha”, married and that the child was no longer her child. He also informed them that Miss Ese Rita Oruru was in the custody of the Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi at the Palace.
7. Moving forward, Mrs. Rose Oruru in the company of Rabiu approached the Emir of Kano’s Palace but met a stiff opposition by several youth, they were pushed out of the Palace.
8. The said Yinusa, through phone calls, informed Mrs. Rose Oruru that he did not kidnapped her daughter as he took permission from Dan Kano before he abducted her.
9. Sensing the impossibility of seeing her daughter or having an audience with the Emir of Kano, Mrs. Rose Oruru broke into tears and drew a lot of attention, on hearing her cries an elderly man called the Police.
10. When the Police arrived they picked Mrs. Rose Oruru to Kwani Police station where her statement was taken and Police officers accompanied her first to the Emir’s Palace but they were prevented from entering the Palace. The Police then proceeded to the house of the Galadima of Kano, who stated that he does not know anything about the matter. The team proceeded to see the Adviser to the Emir, who told them that he does not want to be involved in the matter and then to the Secretary to the Emir of Kano. The Secretary informed them that:
a. The Chief of Tufa Village got an approval from Kura Police station to take the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru to the Emir’s Palace.
b. That the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru is now a convert of Islam and if brought to her mother, Mrs. Rose Oruru would not be able to talk or touch her, otherwise either she (the mother) or Ese would die. He advised that they wait till Monday the 17th of August 2015 to see the Emir.
11. On the 17th of August 2015, the DCO, a Police Inspector from Kwani Police Station, the Chief of Tufa village and Mrs Rose Oruru were at the Palace where the Emir of Kano sat in council. The said Miss Ese Rita Oruru was also seen brought in a Black Jeep with two Police Escort, Yinusa was also present. When the case was mentioned, every other person was allowed inside except Mrs. Rose Oruru, returning from the Emir’s court the DCO informed Mrs. Rose that the Emir of Kano told them to go to the Sharia Court, which they objected to.
12. The Police at Kwani transferred the matter to State CID in Kano State, where she was asked to go back to Bayelsa and report the matter to the Bayelsa State Police Command.
13. Mrs Rose Oruru returned to Bayelsa on the 17th of August 2015 and a report was made at the Ekeki Police Station and the matter was later transferred to State CID Yenagoa.
14. The Police at Yenagoa made some arrest including Dan Kano, and a trip was embarked upon to Kano on the 2nd of September, 2015 with the following persons: Dan Kano, K.C. Dahiru (the chairman of the Hausa community in Yenagoa), Mr. Charles Oruru and Two Police Officer from State CID.
15. The team reported at the Kwani Police Station in Kano where another visit was made to the Emir of Kano, the Emir informed them that he had since on the 26th of August 2015 sent a letter for the release of the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru to her parent. Another letter was also written but was not responded to.
16. Notwithstanding the above efforts made the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru has since not been released to her parent but is still held hostage at Kano State.

CPN EFFORTS SO FAR
17. After receiving the above case, the Child Protection Network immediately swung into action by formally informing the Director Department of Security Service and several meeting were held in December 2015 with officers of the Department of Security Service. The Department of Security Service made several promises to secure the release of the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru, but until date, Miss Ese Rita Oruru is still held hostage by these perpetrators.
18. During the Bayelsa state election, the Coordinator of Child Protection Network spoke with the Inspector General of Police and he gave his word that the girl will be returned back to her parents, but his words has come to nothing.
19. On the 11th of February, 2016 we also held a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa state police command on the above subject matter and our grievance on the attitude of some of the Police Officers who had earlier worked on the case and their failure to secure the release of Miss Ese Rita Oruru was duly communicated.
20. We strongly believe that the said Miss Ese Rita Oruru has not only been hypnotized but also recruited as a tool in the hand of an Islamic Fanatical group in Kano State. Miss Ese Rita Oruru is only 13 year old and cannot give informed consent to marriage and is still held hostage. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oruru are petty traders who are putting all efforts to meet the needs of their children.
21. Securing the return of Miss Ese Rita Oruru would be not only make history of our strong desire to continually protect our children, but also re-emphasis and stamp our indelible position against the acts of these culprits.
We therefore call for all to join our voices to prevail on the Kano State Government, the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to URGENTLY RELEASE MISS ESE RITA ORURU AND DEMAND FOR THE PROSECUTION OF HER ABDUCTORS UNDER THE APPROPRIATE LAW AND JURISDICTION as it is of urgent National Security and Public Interest.

Malcolm X's Favorite Slain Revolutionary..PATRICE LUMUMBA.

Malcolm X called him the most impressive black man ever to walk the African continent. Just six months after becoming the first prime minister of the newly independent Republic of the Congo (later called the Democratic Republic of the Congo), and two days before John F. Kennedy’s inauguration in January 1961, Patrice Lumumba was shot down by a firing squad. But Lumumba’s surprising path and sudden death serve as a powerful reminder that for political leaders in many parts of the world, true reform has only one major prerequisite: survival.

Few countries today are as troubled as the Congo, a land of 68 million nestled near the center of sub-Saharan Africa. Belgian invaders looted the country for almost a century, during perhaps the most brutal colonization in Africa. But Congo, rich in mineral resources like rubber, was once poised to be an African success story, thanks in no small part to the man his people called by one name: Lumumba.
Lumumba went from being a political prisoner to being his country’s prime minister at the tender age of 34.
Tall, wiry and intellectual, Lumumba grew up in a Catholic family in the Congolese countryside, working as a postal worker and beer salesman before risking his stable, middle-class life to join the anticolonial independence movement. He was quickly embraced as a leader of the movement, only to be imprisoned in late 1959 as the Congo was about to gain independence. But popular pressure forced his release, and nine months into his 69-month sentence, Lumumba went from being a political prisoner to being his country’s prime minister at the tender age of 34.

Lumumba led a poor Congo, where nearly half the population was undernourished. He had high hopes for enacting the agrarian reform necessary to feed his people, and that was just the beginning of his ambitious plans. Then, just three months into his term, Lumumba was deposed, in a move orchestrated by a cadre of great powers: the U.S. via the CIA, which had planned to poison his toothpaste on orders from President Eisenhower; England with the connivance of MI6; and Belgium, the Congo’s former landlord. The reason? A significant crime in the Cold War heyday: making nice with the Soviets, who, it should be noted, Lumumba leaned toward because of Western hostilities arising from the possibility that he might find common cause with the Communists.

“Even the jungle wanted him dead,” Joseph Conrad wrote of Kurtz, the Belgian ivory trader who ventures deep into the Congo in Heart of Darkness. It was as true for Lumumba as it was for Kurtz.

What followed was a coup by future despot Colonel Joseph Mobutu. Lumumba was arrested, beaten and trucked to a location where, with Belgian approval, he was put to death by a firing squad. According to one report, Lumumba was shot multiple times, and his body was dissolved in acid by Belgian military officials who wanted to prevent a full investigation. Mobutu took over the Congo, renamed it Zaire and looted it to the tune of $5 billion over the next 30 years. And it wasn’t until 2002 that the Belgian government apologized to the Congolese people for its role in Lumumba’s assassination.

Lumumba lives on in the hearts of many people in the Congo, but his lesson — like that of so many slain revolutionaries — may not be what he hoped for or expected. Being bold, principled and even on the right side of history will not lead your people into the promised land, nor will it make you the next George Washington, Nelson Mandela or Fidel Castro. If, however, you’re willing to adapt and persevere, the rest may take care of itself. And if not, someone may just take care of you.

MUST READ!..A dying nation, its travelling President and the lying party!

NEWISSUES, Abuja
In the run up to the 2015 presidential election, leaders and members of APC were very vocal in condemning the then president of the country, President Goodluck Jonathan, for every step he took. This even included attending churches on Sunday, Jonathan’s religion’s holy day of obligation. It was Babatunde Raji Fashola, the then governor of Lagos State and now Honourable Minister of Power, Works and Housing, that succinctly captured the mind of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and supporters then when at the sixth Bola Tinubu Colloquium in Lagos some time in March 2014, he charged at his listeners by asking them if they wanted “someone who spends most of his time in church or mosque, or the man who is ready to spend his time on the job.”

That was when life was very sweet as an opposition party especially with the tolerance level of Goodluck Jonathan. At least, Goodluck was spending his time in the country even if, in the hyperbolic words of Fashola, he was spending “most” of it in church.

However, fast forward to today, we have the same Fashola who is currently serving as a minister under president Muhammadu Buhari who would remain Nigeria’s most travelled president for a long time in our history. So far, since his inauguration into office on May 29, 2015, President Buhari has traversed 24 countries of the world within a short period of 9 months.

Considering our scarce resources, this is too frequent, too costly and is a disturbing development as the nation is in its worst economic quagmire since independence. Never in the history of our nation even when we thought we faced economic recession and hyper-inflation has our exchange rate run on auto-devaluation as it is now. The prices of food stuff and basic items are climbing higher and out of the reach of the common man. The purchasing power of the citizens has been badly eroded while people are not only not getting employed, those who are employed are losing their jobs in droves.

The economy is at a standstill! No gainful economic activity going on anywhere. Infrastructural development that characterised Goodluck Jonathan’s administration has since been brought to a halt; our revived agricultural sector is now in a speedy reverse course. While harmless and armless youths protesting peacefully within their constitutional rights are regularly mowed down by mindless security agencies in Zaria, Aba, Onitsha etc, the supreme court has come under several severe attacks from the ruling party as the Honourable Justices of the apex court have resisted the “body language” charm and refused to do the bidding of the party in some of the judgements given by the court recently.

Kidnapping has not only returned but assumed a more dangerous and fearful dimension, and the security agents seem overwhelmed. Power supply has become more epileptic than ever even as the DISCO’s have hiked their tariff by about 40% and they still expect Nigerians to pay for darkness supplied in the midst of gross financial powerlessness. There is general disenchantment in the land as the Buhari administration has sufficiently demonstrated a total lack of idea on how to run our economy to attain its full potentials at this time. This fact is further strengthened by the shambolic and embarrassing preparation of a simple budget that is a normal ritual of governments all over the world.

Nigerians believe that the budget was fraught with fraud and an indication of the hypocrisy of the current government’s anti-corruption stance. Having suffered so much, the Buhari budget is widely believed to be the “most stolen”, “most missing”, “most padded”, “most denied”, “most investigated”, “most withdrawn” and “most re-presented” budget, yet, there is no outrage in the land over that garbage. If PDP had made that “mistake” during its time, of course, the country would have been on an uncontrollable conflagration, set on by APC.
Despite the rapid descent of the country into catastrophic and unbelievable state of socio-political and economic anomie within a very short period, President Buhari carries on as if nothing is wrong. There is no sense of urgency or even needed level of concern for the state of the nation. Buhari keeps globe-trotting as if the solutions to the nation’s woes lie abroad.

The sophistry peddled by the administration’s spin doctors, as it was during the presidential campaigns, that the president’s frequent travels has already yielded much fruits for the country is only a lullaby-like tale told to children in order to put them to sleep and prevent their usual late night tantrums. Obviously, the complaints of Nigerians about the worrying situation of things in the country would no doubt have been sounding like tantrums to the ears of government.

Given Fashola’s lamentations about former president Jonathan’s frequent presence in church, one would have expected this same man and his likes to caution the president about his needless travels, sit back at home, consult with his cabinet and concerned Nigerians on how we can all move this country forward rather than junketing all over the world in search of foreign solutions to local problems.
The argument that he is in talks with some oil producing countries to see how they could help increase the value of oil in the international market by scaling down on output is akin to pouring water in a basket for the purpose of storage. If we are able to get Saudi Arabia to reduce output will a country like Iran not take advantage of that and flood the market with their own oil especially as they have a lot to unleash on the market having been shut out from the international market for a long time as a result of US sanctions until recently.

This is more so especially when one considers that Iran would be very happy to do the exact opposite of what Saudi Arabia does even if it is just to spite the Saudis owing to the frosty relations between the two countries. In addition, the pro-Shiite Iranians expressed very strong diplomatic reservations over the recent killings of Shiite Muslims in Zaria by a band of military men led by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai. This might just be an opportunity for a pay back by them.
It is also instructive to note that a majority of our oil patrons have either found new buyers or have embraced alternative sources of energy. So, whichever way one looks at it, embarking on extensive and expensive diplomatic shuttles majorly for this purpose is not only illogical, it is also antithetic to common sense and beats the imagination of even elementary economists. Little wonder then our president seems to be the only president among the oil producing countries who think the best way to shore up the price of oil worldwide is by diplomatic shuttles. No other president worldwide is travelling for this purpose.
Our nation is dying, the president is travelling and his party is parrying the truth about the situation of things and the true outcome of the president’s frequent travels. Let the president return, sit back and spend quality time at home and stop working like a distant learning student!

Tongues went wagging, as questions popped here and there about the kind of Christianity people really practice these days and their motives

Reverend mothers are not supposed to be involved in things like this, however seeing something like these is very disappointing.

It was expected she took off that uniform at least before indulging in such act. Is this a sign of end time as the bible mentioned?

The level of strange things occurring in the world is rising is rather alarming and its a daily occurence. Though the name or location of this woman is unknown, as the hilarious photo was probably taken without her noticing.

Why I'm Still Single And Searching!.- Beverly Naya

news
Charming, dark and lovely actress Beverly Naya is still one of the most sought after Nollywood spinsters but has never really been linked with anyone in a romantic way.
Giving her reasons, why she's still single and not in a relationship yet, the diva said she hasn't found what she's looking for in a man.

In her words; "It’s not that they are not asking, they are asking. The main issue my mom complains about is that I can be quite picky. I am picky with reasons because I feel like I have a lot to offer. I don’t want to settle down with the wrong guy. What’s the point? You work this hard, you do so much for your life only for you to settle down with the wrong guy! No, it doesn’t make sense to me. So that’s partly why I’m single. The other reason is I’ve been really busy. I need a guy that understands the nature of my job and doesn’t get so insecure because of what I do. I know the right guy will find me when it’s time. I’m not keeping him a secret, but I am dating at the moment. I am being quiet about that because I don’t think that needs to be in the public just yet."

On the kind of man she sees as ideal, Miss Naya who came to Nigeria from UK to pursue her acting career said, " she expects a gentle, handsome, ambitious man who treats me like a princess. A complete gentleman, someone who knows how to treat a lady, dresses well and most likely my ideal man, Amen to that! God, I hope you are listening. That’s what I’m hoping for."
