Alicia Keys certainly knows how to throw a party – just ask her husband, Swizz Beatz.
On
Thursday night, the singer fêted her leading man like a king as they
celebrated his upcoming 36th birthday with an over-the-top bash in the
theme of the classic 1988 Eddie Murphy film, Coming To America.
Taking place at Capitale in New York, the venue was decorated with
palm
fronds and regal gold and red velvet thrones for the birthday boy and
his family, while a dance troupe was brought in to perform a traditional
dance to the beat of African drummers.
‘My party
was Epic thx to all my fam & Friends for a timeless moment I’m
still in shock…’ the hip-hop recording artist – real name Kasseem Dean –
gushed on social media the following morning as he shared a number of
photos and videos from the evening’s festivities.
He also gave a shout-out to his wife of four years for making the night so special and fun.
‘My wife is awesome thx my love for the best Bday party everrrrrrrrrerr #comingtoamerica…’ he wrote.
While his birthday isn’t officially until
Saturday, the star got the celebrations off to a roaring start nice and
early, with a number of famous friends joining the happy couple for the
shindig.
And
though she’s approximately six months pregnant, Alicia certainly didn’t
let the side down as she partied up a storm, looking stunning in a
gorgeous, ethereal white gown.
The
33-year-old made quite the entrance into the bash, the dancers clearing a
path down the centre of the dance floor, strew with petals, for her to
walk down to greet her king.
The Grammy-winner displayed her blossoming
belly in the loose-fitting, floor-length gown, which featured a textured
bodice with square neckline that revealed plenty of cleavage.
She wore her long raven locks in a pretty
tightly braided cornrow style with silver beads at the ends, while she
was dripping in diamonds, with a stack of bracelets and huge dangly
earrings.
Her make-up was golden and natural, her skin flawless and simply glowing.
Silver-grey pointed dress
shoes, a huge silver medallion adornment on his shirt collar and black
hat completed his look, while he donned a faux leopard skin around his
neck as he sat on his throne, flanked by his loyal subjects.
Even his parents and grandmother got in on the act, wearing crowns
and sitting on thrones, wide grins on their faces as they soaked up the
atmosphere.
Also in attendance at the party were Puff Daddy and Naomi Campbell, who were spotted leaving together in the early hours.
Puff, aka Sean Combs, was
dressed down in charcoal shiny pants and a matching shirt with stars
embroidered on the shoulders, while he donned sunglasses despite it
being dark outside.
The British supermodel displayed her long legs in a black embellished
frock and matching ankle boots, while she too wore large aviators.
Rapper DMX, who has been collaborating with
Swizz on his upcoming eighth studio album, also made an appearance,
posing for photos with police upon exiting the bash, seemingly making
light of his many run-ins with the law.
Perhaps
surprisingly, Swizz’s ex-wife, Mashonda Tifrere, also attended the
celebration, seen walking arm-in-arm with a handsome mystery man as she
headed for home, a huge smile on her face.
Although, it shouldn’t that shocking, considering Mashonda joined her ex and his second wife on
a romantic vacation in St Barts in March – indicating that she’s well and truly moved on from any original awkwardness.

The recording artist, who was married to the
star for six years, divorcing in May 2010, has one child with Swizz, a
son named Kasseem David Dean Jr, seven.
Swizz and Alicia have one son together, Egypt, who turns four in October, while their second child
is reportedly due in December.
