The last time Erykah Badu made major headlines with her clothes, it was because, well, she wasn’t wearing any. But now the singer is in the news again for what she is wearing: In this case, head-to-toe Givenchy for the line’s latest ad campaign.
Badu stars along other notable models, including Maria Borges, Asia Chow and Riley, for a campaign that’s meant to transport you “from Japan to Africa through America,” according to designer Riccardo Tisci. And according to Style.com, Tisci had Badu in mind since the beginning for his ads, which were shot by notable fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

“My family portfolio concept is carrying on. This season, I decided
to invite my dream icon, the respected Erykah Badu, to my stage,” Tisci
said in a statement. “As well as the young beauty Asia Chow, talent of
tomorrow. And my new discoveries: Black goddesses Maria Borges and Riley
and model Dominik Bauer. I am very happy, we did our job while spending
good family time.”
This isn’t Badu’s first time in front of the camera; she also starred in Tom Ford’s fragrance ads.
And with her striking features and natural poise in front of a camera,
it’s not hard to see why she’s so in-demand in the fashion world —
regardless of what (if anything) she’s wearing.
