Ok, lets be honest. Men love their penises. Its the ultimate symbol of manliness to most men, in to many of them, its what makes a man a man. Men will fondle their penises, play with their penises, get angry with their penises if they don’t work when they want them to (or work at inappropriate times), use their penises to pick life partners, and sometimes, get in trouble for their penises. However, even though they never admit it, most men live in constant fear that their manhood is not big enough or is not capable of pleasuring women properly. And because men are men, most of them will never really discuss it, the way women discuss their periods or intimate details of their relationships. I mean, ladies, how many times has some man told you that his penis is 7 or 8 inches? Some even lie and say its 9 inches long and they can go all night (this is a lie, no man can go “all night”without the assistance of coaching staff, a few cheerleaders, a motivational speaker, some Viagra and constant fluids replenishment. You’ll be lucky if you get a maximum of 3 rounds lasting about half an hour each.) So what is the average Penis size? Well, the average penis size is 5.5 inches according to a recent study measuring men of all shapes, races, and sizes.
So that’s the size of an average penis. 5.5 inches. (Although Africans score a bit higher on the study with the average for Africans being 6 inches so our Lagos bobos have above average penises). This is also confirmed by our poll last Friday where we anonymously asked our male readers what their penis size was. We found that because the poll was anonymous, the results mostly agreed with the ladies observations.
(Notice how even though it is anonymous, 8 and 9 inches are have been seen by less than 5% of women but 20% of men claim to have larger than 8 inch penises). So where does this myth of the 7 – 9 inch penis come from? And why do men feel the need to lie about penis size? 5 inches is an adequate length in reality but many men will never agree if you say they have anything less than 6 inches. I’m quite sure most of them have never even taken a ruler to their penis. Probably because they hate bad news, and finding out their penis is smaller than expected is the type of information that can ruin their day and as long as no woman calls them out on this lie, they can deceive themselves about it.
This brings me to my next point… women. Men think that women are constantly judging them and their penis size. Doctors have reported cases where men have developed problems with impotence (erectile dysfunction) after a woman made a joke about their penis size or sexual performance even though almost all of them had perfectly normal penises. So does penis size matter?
Well, women don’t really worry as much as men think they do, according to Dr David Delvin, a family planning specialist and Christine Webber, a psychotherapist, it doesn’t really matter to most women. They say:
It is worth noting two points about women.
See, men, no need to worry about how long your penis is! You can stop lying now.
They also say:
Many men forget that to a female, it doesn’t really matter how long or how short your penis is, because the vagina will accommodate itself to virtually any length.
Also, I don’t think women ever talk about their man’s penis size as long as its not hilariously tiny or freakishly gigantic and its not really a criteria when picking out a man to date or marry, is it?
But that’s doctors… what about the ladies on the street? In order to better understand the female perception on penis size, we searched around and asked a question to see what a few women think.
Question: Does penis size really matter to you?
Ms M: “I think the average penis size is somewhere between 5 and 6 inches and honestly, size only matters if its extremely small or extremely large.”
Mrs K: “I’m not sure. I dont know how big my husband is because I’ve never measured it. Sometimes it seems very big and sometimes I think it’s a bit smaller than normal (when I’m really wet). At the end of the day, we have a great sex life and the size is really irrelevant because he knows my body.”
Ms S: “LOL. Are you serious? It matters o. I mean nobody wants their man to be packing a biro cover.”
Ms I: “Abeg, yes. normal is good. i don’t want to injure myself because of sex. average is the best. no time for long things.”
Ms T: “Good sex has nothing to do with size. In fact, I think talking about having a big penis is just a sad excuse for guys that don’t want to learn how to please a woman. You can’t do the same hulk smash smash with different women and different body types and expect it to be good because your thing is a long thing. Most of the time its just painful and we pretend to enjoy it because we don’t want to hurt your feelings.”
And there you have it, it seems an average 5 – 6 penis is not just OK, its actually preferred to the longer sizes. So ladies out there, do you agree? Feel free to also answer the question yourself using the comment box below and men, do you agree that size doesn’t really matter?

It is worth noting two points about women.
- Many women really dislike the idea of a large penis and may be frightened by one that is too long.
- Some women are much more impressed by the thickness of a penis, rather than its length. This is because some females like the sense of feeling stretched round the entrance to the vagina – so if a guy is quite broad at the base of his penis, this can feel very exciting and satisfying to such women.
See, men, no need to worry about how long your penis is! You can stop lying now.
They also say:
Many men forget that to a female, it doesn’t really matter how long or how short your penis is, because the vagina will accommodate itself to virtually any length.
- The vagina of a woman who hasn’t had a child is only 3 inches long when she’s not sexually excited. The figures for women who have had babies are only slightly different.
- Even when aroused, a woman’s vagina usually extends only to a length of about 4 inches

Ms A: “Yes. It does. I think I have a small vagina, so my preference is actually around 5 inches, with smaller actually being kind of a relief. If it’s 7 inches or more, we’re gonna have a problem. I’ve done it with lots of lube, but I regretted it for days after.”Ms M: “I think the average penis size is somewhere between 5 and 6 inches and honestly, size only matters if its extremely small or extremely large.”
