Experts have said that eggs may
prevent breast cancer as women who consume at least six eggs per week reduce
their risks of breast cancer by 44 per cent according to scientific studies.
Speaking with journalists on the
occasion of the World Egg Day in Abuja yesterday, director general, Poultry
Association of Nigeria, Mr Onallo Akpa told journalists that “the conference
was to clarify some age long misconceptions and primary concerns of people that
eggs may be unhealthy for human consumption.”
According to him, “Eggs according to
experts is not only ok to eat but that it is more healthy for you contrary to
the environmental wisdom that holds that eating egg is unhealthy due to its
cholesterol content.
Egg helps regulate the brain,
nervous and cardiovascular system since one egg yolk has about 300 micrograms
of choline”
He said ”An egg possess more than 6
grams of protein and around 212 milligrams of cholesterol which is less than
the 300 milligrams recommended for daily intake , adding that ”Egg is a source
of many
kinds of nutrients which promotes
healthy hair and nails, assist dieters to lose weight and helps reduce skin
ageing among other benefits.”
