Four-time Grammy awards nominee, Femi Kuti, has now signed a deal with popular music label, Chocolate City.
It
was learnt that the Femi, an ace Afro-beat singer and son of late
Afro-beat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, sealed a management deal with the
label.
An elated Femi took to his social media page to inform
his fans of the development, stating that he hopes to bring great
tidings to Nigeria with the deal.
“[I] signed a management deal
with Chocolate City to manage me in Nigeria. Hopeful to do great things
together in Nigeria with CC (Chocolate City),” the singer wrote.

Wave making musician, Oritse Femi is not doing badly at the
moment. He has grown to become one of the sought after singers. Now, the
big boy artiste has stepped up by getting himself a ‘tear rubber’ Range
Rover SUV. He also moved into his multimillion palatial home in Lekki,
Lagos.
Seeing his huge automatic progress , tongues started
wagging that the 'Double Wahala' star might have devised a diabolical
means of ‘making’ it big in the entertainment circuit.
The singer
who is now neighbour to other A-list artistes such as D’banj, Don
Jazzy, among many other acts in Lekki, dismissed the rumour, explaining
that his latest acquisitions were from proceeds of shows he headlined
both locally and internationally.
“I headline several shows both
home and abroad. There is hardly a show you would go to right now that
my name is not on the poster. It is through hard work and I thank
God.
Although I cannot disclose how much I got the car and the house, I was
able to get the money from the shows I headline,” he said.
“I am
popular now due to hard work and I am always in the studio. After my
song, Mercy of the Lord, with Da Grin, I tried my best to bring out a
better song but I was unlucky to get any. I had to go back to the
drawing board to create the kind of sound people would like.
“I
did not go to Satan to succeed, it is not possible. I advise many of my
childhood friends that to make it in life, you have to work hard. I say
this because some of them may believe the rumour that I did juju, no. It
is through hard work. Hard work pays and nobody should do juju. It is
my hard work that is paying off,” he said.
Weird MC, born Adesola Adesimbo Idowu, is one female rapper
in Nigeria who always dazzles on stage to thrill her fans at any given
opportunity.
She was one of the artistes who closed this year’s edition of the annual musical concert, tagged “Felabration”.
Although with a masculine figure and often mistaken for man, Weird MC hasn't given up on marriage.
"My marriage is in God’s hands. But there is a man in my life. There’s a man in waiting. You have to be patient."
She also explained why nothing much has been heard from her in recent times.
"I
am actually in the studio recording my latest songs. We have actually
shot a video for one of the new songs. We are editing right now. We are
also recording more songs, in fact, I just want to round off by doing a
few collabos. I have already done some collabos but I want to do more
.By the grace of God we are good to go. Yes, I know that my fans are
missing me."
It is no longer news that within two consecutive
years, female singers in Nigeria lost two of their colleagues, Goldie
and Kefee, to the cold hands of death. Does Weird MC think they left a
vacuum in the industry following their sudden exit?
"I don’t
know. You know they just started growing in the industry. Kefee was
around for a while and to come to term with the fact that she’s no more
is still a shock to me. May God continue to protect and preserve us. And
we will continue to do things to make them proud wherever they may be,"
she said.
The sudden death of popular dancer, Kemi Omotoyinbo-Eloayi, on
October 1, 2014, after being in and out of labour for several days at a
private hospital in Lagos, remains a shocker to both family and
friends.
Seun Omotoyinbo, the younger sister of the deceased has revealed the real cause of her death.
Beautiful Kemi is well known to have danced for several popular
musicians such as Pasuma, KWAM1 and Shina Peters, but unfortunately she
got married to her husband, Godwin Eloayi days before her untimely
death.
Narrating what really transpired on that fateful day, Seun recalled that, “On
Saturday, September 13, 2014, my sister got married at White House,
Toyin Street Ikeja, Lagos. Then on Monday, September 22, she went to the
hospital for checkup where the doctor told her she needed bed rest and
was immediately admitted in the hospital till the day of delivery.
Before
her wedding, the doctor had already informed her that she would undergo
surgery and she already paid N170,000 meant to cover the hospital bills
on Wednesday, October 1, 2014. My sister called me and said she wanted
to give me a surprise without knowing I was getting two surprise
packages from her. At about 8-9pm, our elder sister called to inform me
about the safe delivery of my sister.
I requested to speak to
her but was told she was still in the theatre. I decided to go to the
hospital the next morning because I stay at Akoka and the General
Hospital Oreke where she was, is located at Boundry, Ajegunle, Lagos.
At 1am, I received a call from my elder sister saying, “Kemi just passed
away”, I became mad that moment and could not sleep till dawn.
Although, I did not believe my sister was gone until I got to the
hospital and saw her body.”
On the real cause of her painful and as well shocking death, she said, “My
sister never knew she had fibroid until she was almost due for delivery
when the doctors detected it, that was why the doctor decided she would
have a caesarian session because she would not have the strength for
natural birth. Before her body was released to us, the hospital demanded
a balance of N78,000 but one of the doctors told us not to worry about
such an amount that we should pay N42,000 instead. and her husband paid
immediately before her body was laid to rest at Atan Cemetery, Lagos, on
Thursday, October 2, 2014. Kemi still spoke to her husband after the
operation saying,
“Honey, I made it” but did not have the
opportunity to carry her son because she was still weak. However, my
sister had fibroid which lead to internal bleeding and unfortunately,
she did not survive it.”
Many people have been wondering why Muhammadu Buhari couldn't afford to
pay N27m for APC forms as a former Head of State, especially because all
past Nigerian leaders collect about N300million per annum from the
Federal Government as salary [pension and other entitlements].
An investigation by Dino Melaye has just confirmed that Buhari has never
collected that money, he said it is wrong for him to be collecting such
BIG money when many Nigerians are poor and government is not doing much
to better their lives.
Buhari wrote a letter to the Minister of
Finance and said he should only be paid 10% of the N23m they give all
past leaders as monthly salary.
That means, while other
ex-Nigerian Presidents and Heads of State are getting N23million
monthly, Buhari gets only N2.3million.

A "mysterious" aircraft videoed by security cameras as flying over
Synagogue Church guest house shortly before the structure collapsed
killing many visitors and worshippers in September, may have been a
Nigerian Airforce jet, a coroner’s court heard Thursday.
The founder of Synagogue Church, TB Joshua blamed the airplane for the
collapse of the building, and that the church was targeted by
terrorists.
While testifying at the ongoing coroner’s inquest into the circumstances
surrounding the collapse, Toyin Ayinde, the Lagos State Commissioner
for Physical Planning and Urban Development, disclosed that his ministry
enquired from the aviation authorities about the identity of the
aircraft.
Three days after the building collapse, Mr. Ayinde said officials from
his ministry were sent to the church to check the coordinates of the
site.
Afterwards, a copy of the coordinates and the CCTV footage of the
incident was sent to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA.
The ministry also attached a three point question that sought to know
the identity of the aircraft seen in the video, its altitude, and its
flight path coordinates.
“The NCAA responded that there was a request by the Nigerian Air Force
(NAF) that they might conduct some rehearsals on that day,” said Mr.
Ayinde.
The commissioner stated that their calculations determined that the NAF
aircrafts would be flying at altitudes of about 1,100 feet above sea
level – the equivalent of 109 floors above a building.
“We also discovered that the minimum distance the aircraft would be from
the building was about 137 metres, equivalent to one and half-length of
a standard football field,” said Mr. Ayinde.
In the CCTV footage released by the church after the incident, an
aircraft was seen flying over the building on the morning of September
12. On four occasions, an aircraft flew over the building, and minutes
later, the entire structure crumbled.
T.B Joshua had blamed the “strange plane hovering above the building” for the collapse.
According to Premium Times, at Thursday’s proceedings, the CCTV footage was replayed in court.
A still image of an aircraft flying close to the building, taken with a
mobile phone by a member of the church, was also displayed.
Mr. Ayinde said he could not tell if it was the same aircraft that flew
over the building four times. And the letter from NCAA did not
specifically identify the aircraft in the CCTV footage.
“I didn’t see a hovering of an aircraft, I saw aircraft but not
hovering. There is a uniform directional movement and it is
understandable because that area is close to the airport,” said Mr.
Ayinde, adding that the display in court was the second time he was
watching the footage.
“I cannot confirm that it is the same aircraft, it could be four
different aircrafts moving in the same pattern. I did not see that the
aircraft move remarkably close to the collapsed building.”
During cross examination by Olalekan Ojo, the church’s lawyer, Mr.
Ayinde said he could not tell if the aircraft was flying below the
estimated altitude.
Mr. Ojo said that residents of Ikotun, the area where the church is
situated, had lodged a complaint at their local police station about
aircrafts flying at “very low levels” before the September 12 incident.
The coroner’s inquest continues on November 5.
